  Minutes of the Southern Chapter Meeting – November 9, 2011

The Golden Corral in Bedford, IN was the location of the November 9, 2011 So Chapter meeting.  There were 11 members present: Danny Schroeder, David Tuszynski, John Kennard, Tim Hotz, Sandy Wallace, Chris Cunningham, Diane Knies, Tracy Monroe, Rick Schroeder, Brenda Cummins, and Steve Cale. 

 A tour of the Avoca Fish Hatchery was the first event planned and those present enjoyed the presentation provided by the Hatchery property Manager Mr. Robin Bruegmann.

 The 2nd tour planned for the morning was at the “Land of Limestone” exhibition at the Bedford Campus of the Oakland City University.  The exhibit is a self-guided tour of  “over 200 archival and architectural photographs, historical news accounts, official records and documents….” bringing to life the people, events and history of Lawrence County. 

 Business Meeting – was called to order at 12:55 PM by Chapter President, Danny Schroeder. 

Minutes from the August meeting were approved as written. 

 Treasurer’s Report – Treasurer Diane Knies reported a balance of $484.54, noting the $125.00 payment to Steve Cale has not yet been paid.    

 Food Report – John Kennard reminded everyone that the Food Report is posted on the IEHA website for review.  He mentioned the issue of food delivery trucks being stopped in various Counties by ISP Officers and LHD personnel being called to the stop to conduct a more in-depth inspection of the food being transported if the ISP Officers monitored improper temperature control inside the truck.  He also noted there is further information regarding Home Based Vendors at Farmers Markets available on IEHA website.

 AnnouncementsDanny Schroeder passed around a “Thank You” card that was sent to the Southern Chapter by Patti Nochek regarding the generous entries submitted for the Silent Auction at the 2011 IEHA Fall Conference, and how much she appreciated our contributions. 

 April Aaroyo-Monroe left the ISDH in September to pursue other interests. She will be missed.   

 Danny also reminded everyone the Pumper & Cleaner Environmental Expo International will be in Indianapolis on

February 27 – March 2nd. 2012.

A plaque was presented to our “long serving” Past President, John Kennard showing our appreciation for the years he served as the Southern Chapter President. 

 Next Meeting – Will be on February 14th, 2012 at the Harrison County Community Foundation Building, in Harrison County. 

 The meeting was adjourned at 1:08 PM
